Davis Medical Center has announced the appointment of Dr. Elena Kwon as the new Director of the Emergency Departments at both Davis Medical Center and Broaddus Hospital, set to begin on August 1, 2024. Dr. Kwon’s extensive background as an emergency and trauma physician positions her as a strong leader for the medical team.
Dr. Kwon earned her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Additionally, she holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington in Seattle and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She is board certified and has certifications in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Advanced Trauma Life Support.
In her previous roles, Dr. Kwon served as the Deputy Biodefense Consultant to the U.S. Surgeon General and co-chaired the Biodefense Committee for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. With over 16 years of experience in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Urgent Care Medicine, along with 12 years in Public Health and Occupational Medicine, she brings a wealth of expertise to her new position.
As Director, Dr. Kwon will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality emergency services, ensuring that both hospitals meet community needs effectively and compassionately. She is committed to creating a collaborative environment for the medical staff and enhancing emergency care protocols. Dr. Kwon plans to relocate to Elkins and is eager to become an active member of the local community.
