PETERSBURG — The Grant County Bank has announced the retirement of long-serving board member Jack Barr, whose visionary leadership and dedication have significantly contributed to the bank’s growth and success over the past two decades.
Barr joined the board of directors for Grant County Bank in 2003 during a transformative period. One of the significant changes he helped implement was the transition to digital banking, making internet banking accessible and improving the convenience and efficiency of services for the local community.
Under Barr’s guidance, the bank also promoted diversity on its board. He supported appointing several women to key positions, ensuring varied perspectives in the bank’s leadership.
Barr played a crucial role in expanding the bank’s loan services to a broader market, which enabled Grant County Bank to support local business growth and community development.
“Jack joined our board shortly after we opened an office in Mineral County,” said George Ford, President and CEO of Grant County Bank. “His background as an attorney and experience with a larger regional bank, along with his connections to Grant and Mineral Counties, were instrumental in the success of our Keyser branch. Jack developed strong relationships with key clients in the Mineral County market, significantly contributing to our growth.”
Ford noted Barr’s thoughtful and reasoned perspectives on board issues, especially during the “Great Recession” of the late 2000s. “Jack worked closely with the bank to develop workout agreements with clients facing financial difficulties, exemplifying his commitment to supporting our customers through tough times,” Ford said.
As Barr steps down, Grant County Bank extends heartfelt gratitude for his years of service and dedication. His leadership, wisdom, and community spirit have left an indelible mark on the bank and its communities.
