Tickets for the upcoming National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration are now available, according to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR). This much-anticipated annual event is set to take place at Stonewall Resort State Park in Roanoke on September 21.
“West Virginia’s National Hunting and Fishing Day is an action-packed event that celebrates everything we know and love about the outdoors,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion. He encouraged everyone to purchase tickets and participate in the family-friendly activities hosted in one of the state’s premier parks.
Tickets for the event are priced at $10, while children aged 14 and younger can attend for free. Those who buy tickets by 11:59 p.m. on August 31 will receive five complimentary tasting tickets for “A Taste of West Virginia State Parks,” featuring wild game, Appalachian cuisine, and signature dishes crafted by state park chefs. NHFD Events and Activities
The event will also host the popular Outdoor Youth Challenge, aimed at engaging children through various hands-on activities that include fishing, wildlife identification, shooting sports, and safety demonstrations. Participating youths will have the chance to win prizes such as scholarships to Conservation Camp and a lifetime hunting and fishing license.
In addition to these activities, guests can enjoy presentations, visit vendor booths showcasing the latest outdoor gear and services, and even get autographs from hosts of popular shows like Fly Rod Chronicles, The Chase, and Whitetail Frenzy.
Co-sponsored by the WVDNR and the West Virginia Wildlife Federation, the National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 21. Free parking is available for the entire weekend close to the vendor area, along with accessibility shuttle services to select activities.
